Day 19 (May 1, 2022, Sunday)

   .

“Another magical day on the Benton McKaye we saw a grown black snake and a little baby black snake and hog beds big bad pig beds yes big bed, and they routed out like these huge rocks deep holes the trail was super nice and we got to rock thunder, no, thunder rock campground.”

** 200 MILES!!!! **

(and no shower in 8 days)

Who knew? Tennessee doesn’t like signs.. Even the trees eat them!

“oh yeah the owl kept hooting every time Lisa started to mention the blue hydrangeas to Ken so Lisa sent Henry a text telling him his mother was talking to us three times.”

We saw no other humans on the trail. It was a really friendly trail and we went 18 miles.

“Lisa lead for a while and got us off the trail slightly turned around that’s all and we had our 200 mile marker that’s right it was super cool it was a beautiful sign made with daisies and now we’re going to bed yeah we are tired tired”

We did really good on our food again, we have one pack of oatmeal left and two packs of coffee and 1 tea. We had chocolate chips for midday break and Ramen noodles for lunch

Hiked to Thunder Rock camp by the Ocoee river TVA station.

Tomorrow morning we will be picked up and taken to Copper Inn by Gary and it’s been eight days since a shower and the potable water taste like metal at the campsite. phew!

Camped by the river. Threw out the “potable’ metal filled camp water (yuck!) and Ken risked his life getting fresh water from the river.

18 miles
