Day 14 (April 26, 2022, Tuesday)

Started out in the rain this morning..

“it started raining about 7 or 6 o’clock yeah it didn’t rain till this morning it didn’t rain at all last night. It was really nice to get to camp early yesterday after our big long 6 mile Hill.”

The rain motivated us this morning to get up and get going by 8:15. And then the sun came out around 3:30 or 4. The rain stopped around one, and there was a lot of fog, It was cold.

LIsa’s trashbag raincoat!

“It’s been an eventful day; Lisa fell twice oh yeah burnt her boot it’s a poopy day it is a Poupee day and we saw lots of poop on the trail.”

We saw a salamander and new flowers; a really pretty pink one and the white ones that were much bigger than the previous sightings.

Nice trail today and we met two thru hikers going north, it was an older couple. They weren’t interested in really having a conversation. We had cell service earlier and we’re meeting Lisa and Aaron tomorrow.

We missed noticing the bridge and the meadow somehow. And there was a huge washout by the parking lot.

“We did see a man poop on the trail but he was not a bear and he left his paper to the left, a lily white on the side of the trail.”

And we did see more flowers!

and new fern types!

“We have a wonderful campsite with lots of bear poop everywhere and Lisa is a little freaked out about it but not anymore.”

We warmed our boots by the fire and that’s when Lisa burnt her boot and we had s’mores and mashed potatoes with gravy and cheese and rice taco flavored mystery meat for Ken.

“Ken got the water and washed the dishes because Lisa is a scaredy-cat no not true Lisa is awesome you’re right.”

Our fire is amazing it’s gone through several different morphs and right now it’s in TeePee style.

“it’s burning very very hot in my bare corner at Woods Hole”

“And we forgot to mention the other day that the trail is buffet line for the pigs. Also, the Bears don’t want to poop in their home so they poop on the trail. We may start taking pictures of poop they were many kinds today.

And we saw lots of prints yesterday in the fairy land roots and magical wonderland and lots of horse prints by the river for probably two or three days and yesterday saw lots of Mica yeah, was that yesterday?”

And Lisa has her trashcan raincoat! Lisa has borrowed Ken’s:

  • blue raincoat (until she made her own)
  • Cho-pat knee strap
  • his white sun shirt
  • his towel
  • his sleeping bag
  • his bandanas
  • his raincoat
  • his Jetboil

Hmm, there’s sure to be other things that are not coming to mind at the moment. haha

And we’ve had the bear canister ceremony, so the bear gods should be happy. And now we’re by our toasty fire.”

All in all another great day! Our view last night was spectacular with the mountains in the distance, it was incredible.

“Oh and your left middle toe it was key and Lisa’s knee was great without a Cho-pat until lunch yeah it was so nice. I think that’s it, this is the best 14th fantastic day yeah!”

We need to remember to look up those Indian looking shoes with the tree of life on them that Jamie wore.
